Kentucky Fall in the Mammoth Cave National Park Area
Y’all, let’s be honest. Sometimes in Kentucky fall lasts 3 weeks, and sometimes it lasts 3 months.
Some years you have to search for it, like looking for gold on a treasure hunt.
Other years – more glorious times – it barges through the front door and makes itself at home!
This year after a brutally hot summer of daily highs in the upper 90’s, cool temps showed up on the first day of fall like they lived here all along.
Temperatures this summer hit all-time record highs so many times we stopped counting. Our summer-loving friends were loving it! But it seems a little odd to haul out the orange decorations and pumpkin spiced food when the sun is fully ablaze.
Waking up to days that didn’t even reach 80 degrees was a welcome harbinger of the season that many of us hope will last a few months.
Fingers crossed that this year the pumpkin cheesecakes, caramel apples, wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, hikes along colorful trails, paddles along cool rippling water, campfires & s’mores, decorations in storefronts and on front porches hang on a little longer this year.
We dare you to indulge yourself in autumn and snub Santas and Christmas trees – at least until after the turkey and dressing is cleared off the table!
We’re pushing to extend Fall Break!!! Who’s with us???
