KID-APPROVED KENTUCKY DAY TRIP #3 –How about a safari? On an authentic Amish farm?

Stop #1 – Dutch Country Safari Park (2125 L&N Turnpike Road, Horse Cave) is located on a real Amish farm, but the wagon safari takes you around the world! You’ll love feeding the camels, ostriches, yaks, Watusis, bison, emus, zebra, long-horn steers, and more and more along the 30- minute wagon ride – you’ll think you’ve gone around the world! The ride and large pans of food are included in your entrance fee. You can get up close and personal with smaller animals in the Petting Zoo area, too. And you’ll find other animals inside at the gift shop. There’s a small fun playground and a barrel train ride, as well. Don’t forget to try the CAMEL MILK ICE CREAM at the snack shop.

Stop #2 – Just a few miles down the road is a large Amish grocery, R&S Grocery & Amish Bakery (235 Irvin Cemetary Road, Horse Cave), where you can get hand sliced deli sandwiches made on their homemade sourdough bread, mouthwatering doughnuts and Amish bakery specialties, as well as bulk groceries, and even surplus items. It’s a great place to fill up a basket to take back to your treehouse or home! Stop #3 – Check in at nearby Horse Cave KOA (489 Flint Ridge Road, Horse Cave) where we suggest a beautiful Amish-made treehouse with a full-kitchen, living room, bedroom with a queen bed, upstairs loft with 2 queen beds, full bath, deck, and patio with gas grill and fire pit that overlooks gorgeous Kentucky landscape. Then try their swimming pool, fishing pond, playground, mini-golf, giant slide, bouncing pillow, basketball court and volleyball area. You can even rent a golf cart to cruise the park.
