KID-APPROVED KENTUCKY DAY TRIP #2 – You’ll think you’re in Australia at this Kentucky Animal Park!

According to our Adventure Ambassadors Anna and Donavin, “We’d like to stay here all day and meet all the animals! And then stop by to eat all the donuts!”

Stop #1 – Our Ambassadors totally suggest that you rent a golf cart so you can travel in style as you cruise the park at Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo (3700 L&N Turnpike, Horse Cave) to meet ALL the animals! There are kangaroos! Dozens and dozens of kangaroos that you can meet and feed and relax with for as long as you would like. And there are colorful rainbow lorikeets that you can meet and feed, too! More birds, and sheep, and reptiles – oh my! A petting zoo and animal shows. A beautiful cave to explore. Stuffed animal friends and homemade fudge – SO much to do! You’ll want to plan a couple of hours or more to enjoy the whole park.

Stop #2 – Fuel up with Amish donuts, fry pies, baked goods, and meals at Farmwald’s Restaurant & Amish Bakery  (3720 L&N Turnpike, Horse Cave)right in front of Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo. Go ahead – enjoy a donut or hearty breakfast early, and stop by for a hearty lunch or supper, too! You’ll want to pick up some of the snacks to eat on your visit and loads of food items to take home. They even have gifts and crafts, too.

Stop #3 – Want to kick back and enjoy some fun down time? Horse Cave KOA (489 Flint Ridge Road, Horse Cave)  is right across the highway, and after you check in, you can relax in the pool, play mini-golf, go fishing, try out the giant slide or jumping pillow, and check out the playground. How about an overnight in a teepee? With a huge deck and patio overlooking the beautiful Kentucky countryside? Loads of comfy seating, a grill, and a fire pit?  They also have treehouses, Conestoga wagons, cabins, and RV sites to choose from.  A great place to plan another day to add to your adventure! Yes, please!!!
