Mammoth Onyx Cave: The beauty underneath the zoo

By Matthew Brown, Wandering Kentucky

I’ve been showing you around Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo but only above ground. You really need to see inside Mammoth Onyx Cave, though.

It’s a pretty easy to navigate cave – I think I had to duck once – and full of interesting formations and views that can almost seem abstract. Of course, it is nice and cool down there, and overall it’s one of the easier caves I’ve explored.

I was really glad to take the tour through Mammoth Onyx Cave. I learned a little history from the guide, got a break from the heat, and got to take some pretty cool pictures. Hard to beat that!
